The Sales Battle of Chinese Cars at GIIAS 2024: Here Are the Current Winners

The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2024 (GIIAS) was just held from July 18 to 28, 2024. This largest automotive exhibition in Indonesia was flooded by Chinese car companies.

These companies included Wuling, MG, GWM, BYD, Seres, DFSK, GAC Aion, Neta, and Jetour. Each brand showcased its flagship cars.

So, which Chinese car brand sold the most at GIIAS 2024? Some Chinese car manufacturers have already submitted official statements.

As of this report, Wuling is the most ordered car at GIIAS 2024, with 2.301 vehicle orders (SPK) and 1,610 test drive participants.

“We appreciate the tremendous enthusiasm of the visitors towards Wuling and the product line we presented. This is concrete proof of consumer trust in the quality and innovation of Wuling,” explained Ricky Christian, Senior Manager Marketing Strategy at Wuling Motors.

Following Wuling, another Chinese car manufacturer that received high enthusiasm is GAC Aion from Guangzhou, China. During the 10 days of GIIAS 2024, GAC Aion recorded 1,118 orders for electric cars.

“As a brand that is new to Indonesia, the warm reception we received during GIIAS 2024 is very meaningful. With the very positive response from visitors and outstanding support, we are confident that Aion will become the top choice for consumers looking for high-quality electric vehicles,” said Metta Yunita, Head of Marketing at Aion Indonesia.

In addition to Wuling and GAC Aion, Neta also announced the orders for electric cars during GIIAS 2024. However, the numbers are not as high as GAC Aion’s.

Only 237 visitors ordered Neta’s electric cars. At the automotive exhibition, Neta showcased many electric cars such as the Neta S, Neta GT, Neta L, Neta V-II, and Neta X.

Nevertheless, this achievement is considered very good by Neta. Last year, the number of orders at the same event was not as high as it is now.

“The significant increase in SPK numbers by more than 100% compared to last year’s GIIAS certainly boosts our spirit as a distributor of electric cars. We not only present eco-friendly electric cars but also meet the mobility needs of the community,” said Jerry Huang, Managing Director of PT NETA Auto Indonesia.

What about BYD and others? So far, BYD Indonesia, MG, Jetour, and Chery have not yet announced their car orders at GIIAS 2024. However, the composition of the best-selling Chinese cars at GIIAS 2024 could change as MG and Chery have been in Indonesia for quite a long time.

Not to mention BYD, which is going all out in selling electric cars in Indonesia. The market response was also very positive when BYD launched the BYD M6 electric MPV, which was very well-liked by visitors at GIIAS 2024.
