The hatchback version or tailless form of the BYD Seal was inadvertently leaked by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This occurred because BYD filed a name registration request for the tailless electric car.
As a result, the appearance of the electric car, which has a sedan version sold in Indonesia, can be clearly seen. In its application, BYD named the new electric car the BYD Seal X.
“Four new names were proposed in the registration, namely Seal 06GT, Seal MINI, Seal 05EV, and Seal X,” wrote Car News China.
In China, the BYD Seal is available in various variants, unlike in Indonesia, which only has one variant. Besides the four new names, the BYD Seal available in China includes the BYD Seal 06, BYD Seal EV, BYD Seal DM-i, and BYD Seal U.
“The BYD Seal is the best-selling model among BYD’s other electric car family members. Last April, their sales reached 14,269 units,” explained Car News China.
The presence of the BYD Seal X will undoubtedly boost BYD Seal sales. Moreover, in terms of appearance, the BYD Seal X is very attractive due to its strong sporty aura.
In terms of dimensions, the BYD Seal X is also very compact. Its size is 4,630 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height. The wheelbase of this car is known to reach 2,820 mm.
Its maximum speed is claimed to reach 200 km/h. In addition, the BYD Seal X will be available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
The single-motor model will have a maximum power of 160 kW, and the dual-motor model will have a combined power of 310 kW. The battery will come from BYD Blade batteries (lithium iron phosphate type) supplied by FinDreams. Unfortunately, further information regarding other technical specifications has not been disclosed.
