Mazda Finally Begins Construction of Car Assembly Facility in Indonesia

PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), the distributor of Mazda in Indonesia, has finally commenced the construction of a car assembly facility in Indonesia. This effort was marked by the inauguration of the collaboration between EMI and Mazda Motor Corporation (MMC) on Wednesday (3/13/2024).

Ricky Thio, Managing Director of PT EMI, stated that the construction of this facility signifies a significant milestone for them, especially in meeting the demands of Mazda customers in Indonesia more efficiently and effectively.

“We are committed to maintaining the quality standards of Mazda vehicles assembled locally for customers in Indonesia, ensuring that they come with the same quality as vehicles assembled entirely in Japan (Completely Built Up),” he explained.

It is known that the assembly facility will be built in West Java. However, until now, EMI has not announced the exact location of the facility.

For the construction of the facility itself, EMI has allocated a budget of Rp 400 billion. The facility will be utilized to assemble Mazda vehicles in the compact crossover segment, as this segment is currently experiencing rapid growth in Indonesia.

“We prioritize our contribution to the empowerment of the local community, especially those in the West Java region. Therefore, we are committed to creating more job opportunities and enhancing the local economy to aid in community development,” Ricky Thio explained.

Previously, all Mazda models marketed by EMI were imported from Japan. This condition resulted in Mazda vehicles being relatively expensive compared to other Japanese vehicles.

Currently, the compact crossover model marketed by EMI in Indonesia is the Mazda CX-30. Interestingly, the Mazda CX-30 is currently the backbone of EMI’s sales in Indonesia.
