Chery seems to be trying hard to dominate the SUV car market in Indonesia. The way to do this is by continuing to present the latest SUV type cars.
Now at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 (IIMS), PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) launched the Chery Tiggo 5X. This SUV further complements the Chery Tiggo SUV line in Indonesia after previously there were the Chery Tiggo 7 and Chery Tiggo 8.
Chery Tiggo 5X comes with dimensions that are much more compact than its brothers. Armed with this size, the Chery Tiggo 5X is expected to be able to compete with compact SUV market occupants such as the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky.
It’s just that in terms of dimensions, the Chery Tiggo 5X is much larger than the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky. So it’s not surprising that CSI is selling the car at a price of IDR 269 million for the Classic type, and IDR 299 million for the Champion type.
This price is slightly more expensive than the Toyota Raize, which is priced from IDR 235 million to IDR 283.4 million. Likewise, when compared with the Daihatsu Rocky which is sold from IDR 208.95 million to IDR 277.35 million.
“This car is almost 4.4 meters long, so it is very spacious and comfortable, and in terms of interior, the Tiggo 5x is the most luxurious in its class, most suitable for families,” said PT CSI Assistant President Director Zeng Shuo.
Not only are its dimensions more spacious than competitors in its class, the Tiggo 5X is also equipped with an ADAS system or Advanced Driver Assistance System, a combined feature that helps the driver when driving.
Zeng said that the Chery Tiggo had been assembled and produced locally, and was working to increase its Domestic Component Level (TKDN) by at least 40 percent to meet export needs.
Although he cannot confirm the readiness of the car, Zeng targets that the Chery Tiggo 5x will start being delivered to consumers in March, before Eid al-Fitr 2024.
“We haven’t decided yet (Tiggo 5x stock readiness) because it depends on supply production too, but I think maybe we will try it in March, to also start sending units to consumers, before Eid this year,” Zeng added.
The Chery Tiggo 5x is equipped with a 1,500 cc engine, this engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 112 hp with a maximum torque of 138 nm, uses a steel frame and is equipped with six air bags.
In terms of interior, this car is even more luxurious with a 10.25 inch touch screen head unit display, ambient light, and leather on the panels and seats.
