Hyundai plans to compete with the popularity of Chinese electric cars in Europe by presenting the tiny Hyundai Casper electric car. Automotive News Europe stated that this step was taken by Hyundai to make their electric cars more affordable for European people.
It is planned that this car will be sold at a price of 20,000 Euros or the equivalent of IDR 336.1 million. In the future, apart from competing with electric cars made in China, the small electric car made in South Korea will also face off against European electric cars such as the Renault Twingo, Dacia Spring and small electric cars made by Volkswagen.
“The electric Hyundai Casper does not suit the needs of the United States but would be very good for the European market,” said Automotive News Europe.
Meanwhile, Carbuzz said that the price will be affordable thanks to the use of an LFP (Lithium Ferrophosphate) type battery. This battery is quite new for Hyundai because previously they mostly used Lithium Iron Polymer batteries. It is believed that the LFP battery can propel the electric Hyundai Casper to a distance of 200-300 kilometers.
Meanwhile, South Korean media, Chosun Daily, said that Hyundai plans to start production in July 2024.
