Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) has officially confirmed the launch date of the much-anticipated Suzuki Jimny 5-door in Indonesia, set to take place on the first day of the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024, on February 15th. The journey towards this release has been met with tremendous enthusiasm, with pre-orders for the Jimny 5-door opening in early January 2024 and receiving an overwhelmingly positive response.
According to Harold Donnel, the 4W Marketing & Business Strategy Director of PT SIS, the company has experienced an encouraging influx of pre-orders. During the Suzuki Media Gathering 2024 held in the country, Donnel expressed, “We have opened pre-orders for the Jimny 5-door since early January 2024. We have received a lot of positive feedback since the opening of pre-orders.” In fact, the response has been so impressive that “hundreds of units” of the Jimny 5-door have already been booked, drawing parallels with the excitement seen during the pre-order phase of the 3-door Jimny in 2019.
Donnel highlighted the extraordinary reception for the Jimny 5-door, emphasizing the legendary status of the Jimny in Indonesia since the 80s. He noted, “The enthusiasm for both the 3-door Jimny when it was first open for pre-orders in 2019 and the 5-door is equally exciting. Up to now, there have been hundreds of pre-orders for the Jimny 5-door since the opening of pre-orders in early January.”
Similar to its 3-door counterpart, the 5-door Jimny is designed to accommodate four people but caters to different market segments. Notable features include a wider wheelbase and an additional door in the middle, along with rear windows on each side. Under the hood, the 5-door Jimny will be powered by the K15B naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 105 PS and 134 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, complemented by Suzuki’s All Grip Pro all-wheel drive system. As the launch date approaches, anticipation continues to grow for this remarkable addition to the Suzuki Jimny family.
