Beat Toyota, This is Why Tesla Model Y is the Best-Selling Car in 2023

The Tesla Model Y was finally named the best-selling car in the world in 2023. Based on JATO Dynamics records, last year it sold 1.23 million units.

This achievement is much greater than sales of other cars. Under the Tesla Model Y, there is the Toyota RAV4, which in 2023 sold up to 1.07 million units.

This achievement actually breaks Toyota’s achievements, which in 2022 succeeded in placing the Toyota Corolla and Toyota RAV4 as the world’s best-selling cars in first and second positions. Now in 2023, both of them will fall.

The Toyota RAV4 is in second place after the Tesla Model Y. The number three position has just been filled by the Toyota Corolla with sales of 1.01 million units.

According to JATO Dynamics, the achievements of the Tesla Model Y are actually history because this is the first time an electric car has become the best-selling four-wheeled vehicle in the world.

Felipe Munoz, Global Analyst at JATO Dynamics, said that the increase in sales of the Tesla Model Y was extraordinary. In their records, compared to 2022, sales of the Tesla Model Y will actually increase by 64 percent.

“The achievements that the Tesla Model Y has achieved in such a short time are truly extraordinary,” explained Felipe Munoz.

Felipe Munoz further analyzed that sales of the Tesla Model Y were very high due to the strategy implemented by Tesla. First, Tesla made a massive price discount for the Tesla Model Y.

This price actually makes the price of the Tesla Model Y much cheaper than other electric cars in Europe and the United States. So it is not surprising that the Tesla Model Y is also the best-selling car on the Blue Continent in 2023.

A large increase also occurred in China. Tesla Model Y sales in China reportedly reached 456,000 units. This is a fantastic figure for an electric car that does not have a Chinese passport.

Furthermore, according to Felipe Munoz, this price reduction did not have a bad impact on Tesla. Tesla’s reputation has actually succeeded in ensuring that its price reduction strategy does not damage public trust.

“Currently the image in people’s minds regarding electric cars is Tesla,” explained Felipe Munoz.
