Toyota has designed a very futuristic moon rover vehicle. What’s unique about this vehicle is that it was actually inspired by the design of a kidnapper’s car in Indonesia.
As reported by Carscoops, Friday (6/10/2023), the electric-powered lunar rover was designed by Toyota’s design studio in California, United States, CALTY. The vehicle, called the Baby Lunar Cruiser, is the result of a collaboration with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAEA).
“CALTY combines the functionality of the Moon Rver design with the legendary Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. This can be clearly seen in the front grille of the Moon rover,” wrote Carscoops.
The Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser is an old Toyota car that is very legendary in the world. This box design SUV is even very famous in Indonesia.
Even in Indonesia, the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser is nicknamed the kidnapper’s car. This is because cars from Japan are often used as a means of transportation for criminals who appear in Indonesian films.
The car is always used to kidnap people. That’s why many Indonesians know the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser as a kidnapper’s car.
However, the Baby Lunar Cruiser’s job on the Moon is not to kidnap people living on Earth’s satellite. The Baby Lunar Cruiser made by Toyota has the task of carrying out observations and research on the conditions of the Moon.
CALTY itself designed the Baby Lunar Cruiser by combining retro elements found in the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser and a futuristic design. The retro part can be seen from the iconic grille of the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser.
For the exterior, Baby Lunar Cruiser looks very futuristic. This can be seen from the top of the car which is made entirely of glass.
This section was created to provide complete visibility for the Baby Lunar Cruiser driver. The car dashboard is also very unique because it is made entirely of glass. In order to be able to explore the Moon properly, the Baby Lunar Cruiser is equipped with special tires without air.
The interior of the Baby Lunar Cruiser is equipped with spaceframe seats and M.O.L.L.E. panels that make it highly customizable. This allows passengers on the Baby Lunar Cruiser to customize the vehicle to be ready for any adventure it may encounter.
