The Number of SPKLU Electric Cars is Equivalent to Gas Stations

People’s fears about the difficulty of filling and finding it turned out to be unfounded. The Electric Mobility Ecosystem Association actually said that the number of SPKLUs in the capital city is actually equivalent to gas stations.

This was revealed by Patrick Adhiatmadja, Deputy General Chair for Technical Affairs of the Electric Mobility Ecosystem Association (AEML) in the Inews.id Editor Forum discussion, Wednesday (13/9/2023). Patrick Adhiatmadja said that currently the number of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) has reached 900 units.

Likewise with the Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Station (SPBKLU), which has actually reached 1,300 units. He said that almost all SPKLU and SPBKLU were in the capital city.

“If SPKLU and SPBKLU are already at the level of 800-900 units, there’s actually no need to worry. In fact, I’m sure the number of gas stations in Jakarta will not reach 1,000,” said Patrick Adhiatmadja.

From there, residents of the capital city who already use and will own electric cars don’t need to worry about running out of batteries. Moreover, currently electric car users are very accustomed to measuring the mileage capabilities of their electric vehicles.

“If the range of their electric vehicle reaches 40 kilometers, then they can calculate when and where they can recharge their electric vehicle battery,” explained Patrick Adhiatmadja.

He further said that the procurement of SPKLU and SPBKLU would also continue. According to him, the government is targeting as many as 30,000 SPKLU to be present in Indonesia. Likewise with SPBKLU which is expected to reach 65,000-70,000 units.

“To meet this target, friends at PLN have created a business model and application that is based on their battery charging network. They have also placed charging stations in strategic rest areas along the Java toll road,” said Patrick Adhiatmadja.

He also said that currently the number of SPBKLU is much larger than SPKLU because of the high desire of private companies to build these facilities. Apart from PLN, he said there are at least four or five companies that are already actively building battery swapping stations.

“That’s why the number of SPKBLU has reached 1,300 units because it is supported by several companies and state-owned companies,” he stressed.
