Sales of Jeep Wrangler Reached 5 Million Units since 1986

The Jeep Wrangler has made history because it has sold five million units worldwide. It is known that the Jeep Wrangler was first launched in 1986 as a successor to the legendary Jeep CJ Series.

Autoevolution said, Thursday (31/8/2023), the 5 millionth unit was purchased by a consumer in the United States. Consumers even get lots of prizes for buying this very special unit, such as a lifetime guarantee and cashback worth USD 5,000 or around Rp. 75.7 million for purchasing Jeep Performance Parts.

Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep, said that as many as 80 percent of the total population of Jeep Wranglers around the world since 1986 are still on the road. That means the Jeep Wrangler has very high durability and toughness.

“Jeep’s engine continues to undergo transformation but still has the character of a machine that is easy to handle,” he said.

It is known that the first Jeep Wrangler engine made in 1986 was an engine made by AMC. At that time there were two engine options, namely six-cylinder inline 4.2 liters and six-cylinder inline 4.0 liters.

Now the Jeep Wrangler is carrying a more powerful engine, namely the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6. This machine is the main engine for the various existing Jeep Wrangler variants, from Sport, Unlimited to Rubicon.

In terms of design, the Jeep Wrangler has also continued to change since it was first introduced in 1986. The first generation of the Jeep Wrangler was known by the code name YJ.

Next there was the Jeep Wrangler TJ as the second generation, launched in January 1996 for the 1997 model year. This generation also introduced a long wheelbase specification with the name Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Big changes occurred when it entered the third generation with the JK code. This generation also redefined what Unlimited was by adding two additional doors for a total of four.

To no one’s surprise, the Unlimited sold greater numbers than the two-door body model. JK is also offered with a turbo diesel designed by VM Motori. Unfortunately, JL’s EcoDiesel V6 will be discontinued after 2023.

Now the latest generation of the Jeep Wrangler is even more phenomenal thanks to a stronger design. The Jeep Wrangler with the JL code has so far been marketed in Indonesia
