Price Prediction for Production Car of Toyota Rangga Concept

PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) introduced the Toyota Rangga Concept at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). This is a car that will become a candidate for Toyota’s new family in the pickup segment.

TAM Marketing Director Anton Jimmi Suwandy said that Toyota Rangga would fill the entry-level commercial car market niche. So that its position will be under Hilux which will make the price much cheaper.

“Currently we have a Hilux 4×2 pickup, the price is close to IDR 300 million, and this fills the segment below that. The engine is also the platform as well as IMV,” Anton said when met at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, some time ago.

The presence of the Toyota Rangga Concept was also acknowledged by Anton to replace the single cabin Hilux whose sales figures continued to decline. Therefore, they presented the Rangga Concept at GIIAS 2023 to see the market response.

“Yeah, that’s one of our plans. That’s why we brought this to this exhibition so that we can get a lot of input whether there really should be two line ups, Rangga and Hilux 4×2 are still continuing or will be merged into one, and this is the reason we are bringing them to this exhibition,” he said.

“I think we also need to prepare a lot of input because it’s different, commercially, not only the product but also the aftersales and so on. So these inputs are also our preparation for the launch,” added Anton.

Before appearing at GIIAS 2023, Anton revealed that he had contacted several consumers to ask for input regarding the Toyota Rangga. According to him, it is very important for Toyota before launching a vehicle.

“We have been conducting market studies for 2 years, and we have imported this Rangga unit for almost a few months. So, we have discussed many consumers before the exhibition,” he said.

Toyota Rangga itself will later be equipped with an IMV (Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle) type engine which is often found on the Japanese manufacturer’s monocoque chassis. This machine is also used in Hilux and Fortuner.
