The Fuso eCanter electric truck is predicted to be the first electric truck to be sold in Indonesia. Sales are planned to start next year.
This was known by MNC Portal Indonesia when PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) conducted a dress rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the Mitsubishi Fuso booth at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2023 (GIIAS) at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Thursday (10/8/2023). .
At that time, Mitsubishi Fuso CEO Karl Deppen was in the middle of reading the opening remarks as well as announcing sales of the Fuso eCanter electric truck starting next year.
“We are very excited to bring the Fuso eCanter to Indonesia. This electric truck will be the first OEM to be sold in Indonesia,” said Karl Deppen.
In his remarks he also said that before actually being sold, Fuso eCanter had conducted a series of tests with several companies in Indonesia. The series of tests or Proof of Concept (POC) started two years ago.
From this trial PT KTB succeeded in obtaining very interesting input for the sustainability of the Fuso eCanter in the country.
Previously, on August 4, 2023, Duljatmono, Sales and Marketing Director of PT KTB, said that the eCanter electric truck trial was said to have covered a distance of 7,000 km in various fields in Indonesia. Apart from road tests, the truck is also used to transport heavy goods.
“We have done this proof of concept since last year ahead of the G20 (Bali). And this is part of us to find out the public’s response to the performance of this product,” said Duljatmono.
Duljatmono explained, this electric truck made by Mitsubishi Fuso has been tested on a number of goods delivery service companies, as well as food companies. The truck trial on urban streets reaped positive results, especially in terms of vehicle performance.
“We tried B-Log, then Nestle, Pos Indonesia, and GoTo, and all of them gave a very positive response, especially in terms of performance. So what is quite good (in the eCanter truck), according to them, is very impressive acceleration, too. cornering and so on,” continued Duljatmono.
“So what we want to see is their response, our customers, to eCanter. Because the comments are positive, it means that the acceptable, market acceptance is quite good. Then we will study the next steps, and are still in the process (for possible sales) ),” said Duljatmono again.
