The Third Generation Mitsubishi Triton, The Perfect Total Improvement

Mitsubishi has finally launched the third generation of the new Mitsubishi Triton, this Wednesday (26/7/2023). The size of this car is bigger than its predecessor and its current opponents.

In the official launch which was broadcast live via the YouTube channel, Mitsubishi claimed to have a special guide in designing the new Mitsubishi Triton, namely Beast Mode or Monster Mode.

The guide made the Mitsubishi Triton completely change compared to its predecessor. This car is still loyal to the design concept of a pickup truck. It’s just that the main design has completely changed.

The visible change in monsters can also be felt from the size. In the past, the Mitsubishi Triton was a light commercial car with the smallest size compared to its rivals such as the Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max and Ford Ranger.

The dimensions of the new Mitsubishi Triton, namely length, width and height, are 5,360 mm x 1,930 mm x 1,815 mm. Compare that to the previous king of the longest double cabin car, the Toyota Hilux, which has a length, width and height of 5,325 mm x 1,855 mm x 1,815 mm.

“The new Mitsubishi Triton is an important car for us that will provide a strong foundation for further big plans,” said Takao Kato, President and Chief Executive Office of Mitsubishi Motors.

Changes in exterior design are also very striking according to monster mode or Beast Mode. The light commercial car bearing the three stars logo is now much sturdier with a very thick nose.

Not to mention the legs that look like straddling. This is indicated by the distance over the fender with the tires which are still very wide.

“The New Triton has received improvements from the exterior, interior, engine, suspension and everything,” said Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Chief Product Specialist Yoshiki Masuda.

From the engine sector, the latest generation Triton is equipped with a new 2.4-liter Hyper Power Turbo diesel engine with CGT technology. This engine configuration is capable of producing 184 HP at 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 2,250-2,500 rpm.

Then there is also the option of the 2.4 liter Bi-Turbo Hyper Power engine which produces 204 PS of power and 470 Nm of torque. This engine power is claimed to be smoother thanks to the use of Mitsubishi MIVEC technology and combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission and also a 6-speed manual.

The interior features a 9-inch center screen that can be integrated with a smartphone. The steering wheel, grips and door handles have been redesigned based on an approach known as the Mitsubishi Touch, which emphasizes comfort and robustness.

The All New Triton is also equipped with seven driving modes consisting of Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock. Apart from that, there is also the Active Yaw Control feature as it has been embedded in the New Xpander Cross.

Safety features are also present in this latest Triton such as Active Stability & Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Hill Decent Control, Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM), Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Drive Monitoring System (DMS), Drive Attention Alert (DAA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)/

Then there is also the Rear Automatic Emergency Braking (Rear AEB) feature, to the Automatic post-Collision Braking System (APCB). The new Triton comes with two new colors, namely Yamabuki Orange Metallic and Blade Silver Metallic.
