According to BloombergNEF, electric passenger vehicles and commercial trucks still need a long time to become as massive as electric buses.
BloombergNEF analyst Maynie Yun Lin Yang said the acceleration in the number of electric buses was due to the large demand outside China. He said that generally lately there has been more demand for electric buses in the Chinese region.
It’s just that from now until the next few years the demand for electric buses will come from other countries.
“Unlike passenger vehicles, electric buses are the most compatible with local government policies that want environmentally friendly transportation facilities and make cities cleaner. If they want to buy electric buses, they can do it right away,” said Maynie Yun Lin Yang.
According to Maynie Yun Lin Yang, acceptance of electric buses is much greater because unlike other electric vehicles, electric buses have fixed routes. So the use of electricity will be much easier to predict and manage because the route never changes.
In addition, battery charging is also carried out at the bus depot. This means that charging the battery will be maximized instead of using public facilities at the Electric Vehicle Recharging Station (SPKLU).
“Currently the operating electric buses actually have reasonable operational costs compared to diesel fuel,” explained Maynie Yun Lin Yang.
Not only that, in terms of maintenance, electric buses are even more profitable. Electric buses don’t require changing oil, air filters or spark plugs, for example.
