This is the Company that Brings China Great Wall Cars to Indonesia

The issue of the presence of China Great Wall Motor Company (GWM) cars in Indonesia has finally been answered. GMW recently announced a strategic partnership with Inchcape Plc to market cars made by GWM in Indonesia.

In the announcement of the collaboration, GWM and Inchcape Plc are ready to develop a new distribution area. The first market to be explored after the collaboration is Indonesia.

In this collaboration, Inchcape Plc will also present three GMW brands to Indonesia at once. The three are Haval, Ora, and Tank.

To market the Chinese cars, Inchcape Plc is not alone. They also made a joint venture with a well-known automotive group in Indonesia, PT Indomobil. In this joint venture, Inchcape Plc holds 70 percent of the shares and PT Indomobil holds 30 percent of the shares.

Clyde Cheng, President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN, said that Indonesia is one of the largest automotive markets in the Southeast Asian region. So they are very enthusiastic about working with Inchcape Plc to reach consumers in Indonesia.

“GWM is undergoing a transformation to become a global company focused on smart new energy technologies. Our new energy vehicles are present in more than 170 countries and regions around the world. With Inchcape’s excellent market expansion capabilities and sales practices, we are confident that we will prospects for the Indonesian market,” said Clyde Cheng.

Meanwhile, Ruslan Kinebas, CEO of Inchcape Asia-Pacific, said that this collaboration has further expanded their footprint in the Indonesian automotive market. It is known that before working with GWM, Inchcape Plc also took over the distribution of Mercedes-Benz cars in Indonesia. They also carried out the takeover with PT Indomobil.

“This is a prime example of Inchcape being the automotive distributor of choice for our mobility company partners. I look forward to combining our local expertise with our leading digital and data capabilities to accelerate GWM performance, and reaffirm our commitment to empowering better mobility in Indonesia,” he insisted.

It is known that the presence of three new car brands from China was announced when the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) held an official statement regarding the implementation of the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) which will be held in August 2023.

In the official statement, GAIKINDO presented three new Chinese cars that took part in the largest automotive exhibition in Southeast Asia. The three are Haval, Ora, and Tank.

It’s just that at that time GAIKINDO had not announced the company that brought the three Chinese cars to Indonesia. In fact, the three Chinese car brands were brought by Inchcape in collaboration with PT Indomobil.

“We are very excited about the partnership with our strategic partner, Inchcape, to present GWM’s new energy vehicles in Indonesia. GWM has a good portfolio of Electric Vehicles, which will support the Indonesian government’s initiatives to boost the Electric Vehicle population in Indonesia,” said PT Indomobil President Director .
