Annoyed by electric cars, Koenigsegg takes another speed record of 400 kilometers per hour

The success of the Croatian electric car, Rimac Nevera, in achieving a record for a car that can reach a top speed of 400 kilometers per hour in a short time has annoyed Koenigsegg. It is known that Rimac Nevera won the title on May 18, 2023.

At that time Rimac Nevera managed to reach a speed of 400 kilometers per hour in 29.93 seconds. This score made Rimac Nevera beat the Koenigsegg Regera, which was able to do the same thing in 31.49 seconds in 2019.

Apparently the success of Rimac Nevera disturbed Koenigsegg. It didn’t take long for the Swedish sports car company to bring the same car, the Koenigsegg Regera, to beat the new record.

At that time, many people were pessimistic that the Koenigsegg Regera would be able to do it. Moreover, this sports car from Sweden is already quite old. Koenigsegg is no longer even producing a car with a maximum power of 1,500 horsepower.

This is different from Rimac Nevera, which was just launched in 2022. This means that in terms of age, Rimac Nevera is much fresher than the Koenigsegg Regera.

Uniquely, in the video that was circulated by Koenigsegg recently, it can be seen that the Koenigsegg Regera was actually able to beat the record currently held by Rimac Nevera. The Koenigsegg Regera actually sharpened the time won by Rimac Nevera.

If the Rimac Nevera can run from rest to 400 kilometers per hour in 29.93 seconds, then the Koenigsegg Regera can achieve it in a matter of 29.60 seconds. In fact, in terms of Racelogic, the time achieved is even faster, namely 28.81 seconds.

What is certain is that the Koenigsegg Regera did it very special because it is much older than the Rimac Nevera.

Koenigsegg, in an official statement quoted by Road and Track, admitted that he deliberately used an old car to set the world record. They claim to have technology that allows them to set any record.

“Why did we achieve this record using an old car that is no longer being produced? Because we really can and because this car is still a king in the highly competitive automotive world. That’s why we have to celebrate this success,” wrote Koenigsegg.
